About

Acrylic, oil and mixed-media used on with emphasis placed on shape, texture, and color to create neo-expressionist/abstract expressionist/neo-figurative paintings based on creativity, free thought and variety. Giancarlo is inspired by the life, art, architecture and culture that he has experienced throughout his life and travels.

Giancarlo is a self-taught painter who began painting as an outlet. New to the art world, Giancarlo's technique and style are at their inception point. Giancarlo's style is based on spontaneity and variety in media, texture, brush strokes and color. Approach is based on layering color, then delineating figures and varying technique based on subject, mood and emotion. Images and figures display an underlying feeling of distress, exhibited by bright bursts of color representing dramatic mood and emotion, or pale/subtle despair by the scarcity of color. The theme or subject matter can at first appear straightforward, but with further inspection often reveal a different issue. However, some paintings are light, presenting serene scenes or whimsically extracted images from his past.

Born in New York City to Peruvian parents, Giancarlo grew up in Woodstock, GA and now resides in Poncey-Highlands, Atlanta, GA.
